Challenge:
A state-of-the-art private jet MRO operation in the Intermountain West had a growing backlog, a gap in quality leadership, and a shortage of specialized talent. Despite a desirable location and strong brand reputation, the company struggled to recruit experienced inspection leaders willing to relocate to a market with virtually no local aerospace talent. Multiple search firms had failed to deliver.
The executive team, recently introduced to Aerosource through a successful VP & GM search at a sister company, asked us to step in and succeed where others had not. The mandate: find a Gulfstream-experienced Chief Inspector with the credibility, technical knowledge, and leadership maturity to command a team of 35 inspectors and mechanics entrusted with multi-million-dollar aircraft for VIP clientele.
Strategy:
We approached the challenge with trademark discipline and optimism. Our team conducted nationwide research, systematically identifying top-tier inspection leaders with FAR Part 145 experience and significant Gulfstream expertise. We mapped MRO leadership org charts, examined career trajectories, and built outreach campaigns designed to overcome relocation resistance by emphasizing career growth, quality of life, and culture.
After thorough qualification, we presented a slate of four highly motivated and qualified candidates. The client responded with a surprising but telling decision: “We’d like to hire two.”
Results:
The client extended offers to two standout candidates—an accomplished, veteran Chief Inspector and a rising star with deep Gulfstream experience and strong team leadership instincts. Through creative structuring and negotiation, we secured both hires: one in the Chief Inspector role and the other as Assistant Chief Inspector.
The dual-hire solution created not only bench strength and leadership coverage across shifts, but also a built-in succession plan. The mentoring relationship between the two has already driven improvements in team cohesion and process compliance, with measurable impact on throughput and quality assurance.
This search marked a turning point for the client. In the months that followed, Aerosource completed three additional searches for critical technical and leadership roles—each building on the trust and results of this foundational success.
